Chandigarh, November 6: The National Gatka Association of India (NGAI), affiliated with the World Gatka Federation, will host the 2nd Federation Gatka Cup–2025 at Bengaluru City University from November 7 to 9. The three-day championship will feature young martial artists from across ten states competing in traditional Gatka disciplines.
NGAI president Advocate Harjeet Singh Grewal and vice president of the International Sikh Martial Art Council, Sukhchain Singh Kalsani, said participants in the under-19 category will compete in Gatka Soti and Farrie Soti events, both individually and in teams. “The competition will highlight the skill, discipline, and heritage of Sikh martial traditions,” they said.
The event, organised under the aegis of the World Gatka Federation (WGF) and the Asian Gatka Federation (AGF), will also coincide with the 2nd National Cultural Pythian Games, celebrating India’s indigenous sports and culture.
According to NGAI officials, the gold medalists from the Bengaluru championship will qualify to represent India at the first International Pythian Cultural Games in 2026. “This tournament is a milestone in Gatka’s journey towards global recognition,” Grewal said.
NGAI, founded in 2004, has worked to promote Gatka at national and international levels and secure its inclusion in events such as the Khelo India Youth Games, National Games, and National School Games.
