Chandigarh, 22 November 2025 — Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini said the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita hold solutions to every problem in the world and remain fully relevant today. Speaking after attending the Maha Aarti at Brahma Sarovar during the International Gita Mahotsav on Friday evening, Saini called on individuals to embrace the Gita’s philosophy in daily life.
“The Gita is a spiritual guide to living,” Saini said. “It contains the knowledge of the Vedas. God composed the four Vedas through four sages, and this wisdom was later conveyed through the Upanishads. Today, all this knowledge is found in the Gita. It teaches us to fulfill our duties, live life according to dharma, and face the fear of death with courage.”
Saini added that the Gita distinguishes between happiness and sorrow, urging individuals to act wisely: “Whatever is favorable brings joy, and whatever is unfavorable brings sorrow. The Gita is a timeless text rooted in Indian philosophy and tradition.”
The Chief Minister noted the role of the International Gita Mahotsav in spreading these teachings, saying that, with support from the Ministry of External Affairs, events are being held in 50 countries this year.
Earlier, Saini, along with Cabinet Minister Krishan Kumar Bedi, Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, Director General of Information, Public Relations and Languages KM Pandurang, and former Minister of State Subhash Sudha, performed the Maha Aarti at Brahma Sarovar, following traditional rituals of worship.
Bedi emphasized the Gita’s universal relevance. “The Gita should be read in every home,” he said. “It should become a mass movement because it provides solutions to all of life’s problems. This holy book is the pride of our nation. Its teachings are not limited to one religion—they offer guidance for all humanity. This is the message Lord Krishna has given us.”
The International Gita Mahotsav continues to highlight the spiritual, philosophical, and practical lessons of the Gita, combining devotional programs with global outreach to strengthen awareness of India’s cultural and philosophical heritage.
