Gujarat Titans defeated Delhi Capitals by seven wickets with the help of a brilliant partnership between Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford. Delhi, batting first, scored 203 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Butler scored an unbeaten 97 runs with the help of 11 fours and four sixes in 54 balls, helping Gujarat win the match by scoring 204 runs for three wickets in 19.2 overs. Rahul Tewatia hit a four for Gujarat to give the team victory. However, Butler missed out on scoring a century.
GT vs DC: Butler, Rutherford Lead Gujarat’s Charge
Chasing the target, Gujarat did not have a good start and soon lost the wicket of captain Shubman Gill. Gill was run out after scoring seven runs. After this, Sai Sudarshan and Butler added 60 runs for the second wicket and took charge of the team. Sudarshan was batting well, but was dismissed after scoring 36 runs with the help of five fours and a six in 21 balls. Then Butler and Rutherford troubled the Delhi bowlers fiercely by batting brilliantly. Butler and Rutherford shared a 119-run partnership for the third wicket.
Rutherford came in as an impact player in this match and was finally dismissed by Mukesh Kumar. Rutherford scored 43 runs with the help of one four and three sixes in 34 balls. After Rutherford was dismissed, the match reached a thrilling situation. Gujarat needed 10 runs to win in the last over and Tewatia was present at the crease. Tewatia hit a six off Mitchell Starc’s first ball and ended the match by hitting a four on the second ball. Tewatia remained unbeaten after scoring 11 runs off three balls. Kuldeep Yadav and Mukesh Kumar got one wicket each for Delhi.
