Sohana, July 30 — Two men were arrested after a physical altercation at Claps Fitness gym escalated when one of them allegedly brandished a pistol, police said Tuesday.

The incident occurred Monday evening during a workout session when a dispute broke out between the two gym-goers. According to officials, the argument intensified and turned physical. One of the men reportedly reached into his gym bag, pulled out a pistol, and attempted to intimidate the other.

“The situation could have worsened had bystanders not intervened. They managed to overpower the man with the weapon and called us immediately,” said Assistant Sub-Inspector Narinder Singh, who is part of the investigation team.

The two arrested have been identified as Santwant Singh, a resident of Sohana, and Jamwant Singh from Moga. Police registered a case under Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to criminal intimidation, along with Section 25 of the Arms Act for illegal possession or misuse of a firearm.

Authorities confirmed that the weapon has been confiscated and sent for forensic and legal verification. “We are checking whether the pistol is licensed and trying to determine the exact cause of the altercation,” ASI Singh added. “The arrests were made a day ago, and we are currently verifying the background of the accused.”

The investigation is ongoing.
