Mohali, May 15: Unidentified assailants opened fire late Thursday night at the Sector 71 residence of Punjabi music and film producer Pinky Dhaliwal. However, no injuries were reported, and an investigation is currently underway, according to the Police.
The shooting took place months after Dhaliwal was embroiled in a high-profile legal controversy involving popular Punjabi singer and actress Sunanda Sharma, who accused him of cheating, forgery, and criminal intimidation.
“Gunshots were heard near the residence around midnight. We have collected evidence from the scene and launched a probe,” said an officer from the Mataur police station, which has jurisdiction over the area.
Dhaliwal had been arrested earlier this year in connection with the allegations but was granted bail in March after the Punjab and Haryana High Court deemed the arrest unlawful.
Sunanda Sharma, 33, had filed a complaint with Mohali police claiming she was denied payments despite generating over ₹250 crore in revenue through projects associated with Dhaliwal’s music label, Mad4Music. She had also alleged she was misled with promises of marriage to Dhaliwal’s son, Gurkaran Dhaliwal.
Punjab Women’s Commission chairperson Raj Lalli Gill intervened in the matter after Sharma publicly shared her allegations on social media, tagging Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
In a statement posted on X, Sharma had said, “Certain individuals are falsely claiming exclusive rights over my professional engagements. These claims are fraudulent and legally baseless. Legal action will be taken against anyone misrepresenting their association with me.”
