Harjinder Singh Dhami Re-Elected SGPC Chief for Fifth Straight Term

Amritsar, November 3 — Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has been re-elected as the president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for the fifth consecutive term for the 2025–26 session.

In the election held on Monday, 136 votes were cast, of which Dhami secured 117, while his opponent Mithu Singh Kahneke received 18 votes. One vote was declared invalid, officials said.

Along with Dhami’s re-election, the SGPC also announced other key appointments. Raghujit Singh Virk was elected senior vice president, Baldev Singh Kalyan became junior vice president, and Sher Singh Mandwala was chosen as general secretary.

The SGPC named its interim committee members, including Surjit Singh Garhi, Surjit Singh Tugalwala, Surjit Singh Kang, Gurpreet Singh Jhabbar, Diljeet Singh Bhindar, Harjinder Kaur, Baldev Singh Kaimpuri, Major Singh Dhillon, Mangwinder Singh Khaparkhedi, Jungbahadur Singh Rai, and Mithu Singh Kahneke.

Dhami, who first took charge as SGPC president in 2021, continues to head the body amid ongoing debates over gurdwara management reforms and Sikh representation.
