Chandigarh, 26 October 2024: Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij has initiated efforts to enhance the infrastructure of the Ambala Cantonment Bus Stand shortly after assuming his role with the government granting administrative approval for ₹92.37 lakh for the special renovation of the bus stand.
Minister Vij announced, “An administrative sanction of ₹92.37 lakh has been approved, and renovation work will commence soon.” He mentioned the importance of improving facilities to better serve the thousands of passengers who utilize the bus stand daily, stating, “The Ambala Cantonment Bus Stand is a vital hub on GT Road, facilitating travel to various states.”
Just hours after taking office, Vij conducted a surprise inspection at the bus stand to assess the conditions firsthand. During his visit, he identified several issues and ordered the immediate suspension of the Bus Stand Incharge (SS).
In response to his findings, the transport department addressed the deficiencies within 24 hours to ensure a smoother experience for passengers. Vij also traveled by bus from Ambala to Delhi, engaging with travelers to better understand their concerns. On his route, he inspected bus stands in Karnal and Panipat.
Notably, Minister Vij had previously revitalized the Ambala Cantonment Bus Stand in 1999, transforming it from a small facility into one of the largest bus stands on GT Road.
