Chandigarh, Aug 12 — The Haryana government has approved purchase proposals and rate contracts totalling ₹1,763 crore across multiple departments, following negotiations that saved the state over ₹10 crore.

The decisions came at a meeting of the High-Powered Purchase Committee (HPPC) chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday, with several cabinet ministers in attendance, including Energy and Transport Minister Anil Vij, Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana, PWD Minister Ranbir Gangwa, and Women and Child Development Minister Shruti Chaudhary.

The CM directed strict adherence to quality standards and timely completion of projects. “The government’s priority is to provide the public with quality services,” he said, stressing that no compromise should be made on safety norms.

Among the approvals:

  • Police transport: 29 new 52-seater buses and six mini buses worth ₹12 crore.
  • Power infrastructure: Dakshin and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigams to procure LT XLPE armoured cables, PCC poles, and 20 KVA transformers at a cost of ₹234 crore. The CM ordered that all cables be tested in recognised labs, warning of strict action against suppliers failing quality checks.
  • Education and health: Sanitary napkins to be provided free to government schoolgirls in Classes 6 to 12.
  • Digital services: Expansion of cloud server and storage capacity at a cost of over ₹3.20 crore to strengthen e-governance and improve service delivery speed and transparency.

The committee also pushed for modernising equipment across departments to expand digital services and enhance efficiency.
