CHANDIGARH, APRIL 11 — Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced on Friday the establishment of two new Artificial Intelligence (AI) centres in Haryana to bolster the state’s technological and innovation capacity. Speaking at the inaugural day of TiECON Chandigarh 2026, the Chief Minister stated that the initiative is part of a broader commitment to supporting the regional startup landscape and aligning with national goals for economic development.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the state’s role as a growing hub for innovation, noting that Haryana currently hosts over 9,500 startups recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), including 19 unicorns. “Haryana is the land of unlimited opportunities, and our government is fully committed to extending support to innovators,” he declared during his keynote address. He urged the business community to utilize existing state incentives to drive further growth in sectors ranging from IT to agri-tech.
The conclave was inaugurated earlier by Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh, who characterized the region’s entrepreneurial environment as a “model for the nation.” The Governor pointed to India’s significant rise in the Global Innovation Index, moving from 81st in 2015 to 38th in 2025, as evidence of a thriving national innovation ecosystem. He also noted that Haryana’s strategic location near the National Capital Region has turned it into a primary destination for global investment and logistics.
The event featured substantial financial backing for early-stage companies, with the startup Glovatrix receiving the Saksham Award. Furthermore, four emerging firms secured approximately ₹7.5 crore in collective funding through a partnership between TiE and the Chandigarh Angels Network. TiE Chandigarh President Puneet Verma maintained that the organization’s ongoing collaboration with the state government is essential for expanding technology-led growth across Northern India.
