BIHWANI, Aug 16— Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday evening ordered the transfer of the Bhiwani Superintendent of Police and the suspension of five police officials following the death of a 19-year-old school teacher, officials said.

Manisha, a play school teacher, was found dead with her throat slit in fields near Singhani village on August 13. Authorities suspect she was abducted before being killed. Her family had refused to cremate her until those responsible were arrested, alleging delays in police action and the registration of a complaint.

Manisha had left her school on August 11 to inquire about admission at a nearby nursing college but did not return home, prompting her family to search for her. Police later discovered her body in the village fields, heightening public outrage over the handling of the case.

Chief Minister Saini directed the transfer of Bhiwani SP Manbir Singh, appointing 2014-batch IPS officer Sumit Kumar as his replacement, officials confirmed. Five police personnel, including Loharu Station House Officer Ashok Kumar and Assistant Sub-Inspector Shakuntala, have been suspended, and departmental action has been ordered against them.

“The safety of our citizens is the government’s priority. Law and order will not be allowed to deteriorate under any circumstances,” Saini said. He issued a stern warning to officers, emphasizing that such lapses must not occur in the future.

The swift administrative response comes amid rising concerns over police accountability and the protection of women in the state.
