Haryana Cracks Down on Illegal Mining, Seizes 324 Vehicles

Chandigarh, February 13 – Haryana Mines and Geology Department has intensified its crackdown on illegal mining, inspecting 3,950 sites and seizing 324 vehicles linked to unauthorized extraction activities since January.

The enforcement drive has generated approximately ₹1.37 crore in revenue through fines.

Officials mentioned that drones and advanced surveillance tools are being used to detect violations, while strict legal action, including FIRs and vehicle seizures, is being taken against offenders.

In a recent case, the department acted on a complaint in Bhagwapur village, Yamunanagar, where illegal mining was found on about two acres of land. Authorities imposed a ₹65.37 lakh fine and registered an FIR on February 11.

Regular inspections are ongoing across districts, with Yamunanagar seeing the highest enforcement—123 vehicle seizures and 116 FIRs since January.

Officials noted that strict measures will continue to curb illegal mining and protect the state’s natural resources.
