Madhuban, March 7 — Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya inaugurated the 73rd All India Police Volleyball Cluster tournament at Vachher Stadium in Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban, on Friday. The event features competitions in volleyball and sepak takraw for both men and women.
A total of 1,088 participants, including 791 men and 297 women, are competing across 49 men’s and 28 women’s teams. Additionally, 65 technical officials are overseeing the matches.
Governor Dattatraya commended the role of police personnel in both national security and sports, calling Haryana a leading force in athletics. “Haryana has always been at the forefront of sports, and our police officers have significantly contributed to this achievement. Many have brought laurels to the state and nation at national and international levels,” he said.
Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur addressed the growing demands of police work and praised officers for maintaining their commitment to sports.
“Policing is becoming more challenging every day, yet our officers continue to excel in sports. Many have represented the state and country with distinction,” Kapur stated.
The tournament aims to promote fitness and sportsmanship among police personnel while strengthening camaraderie within the force.
