Chandigarh, March 12: The Haryana Pradesh Mahila Congress has expelled its general secretary, Suchitra Devi, following her public accusations against the party’s high command. The decision was formalized by state unit president Pearl Chaudhary, who ordered the immediate removal of the leader for violating organizational discipline.

Suchitra Devi recently asserted that she was asked to provide Rs 7 crore in exchange for an assembly ticket from the Bawal constituency. During her public statements, she maintained that the demand for funds involved senior leadership, a claim that triggered a significant political controversy within the state.

Party officials declared the allegations to be entirely unfounded and contrary to the party’s code of conduct. “The statements are baseless and against party discipline,” the Haryana Mahila Congress leadership stated, affirming that such conduct against the top brass necessitated strict disciplinary action.

The expulsion comes as the Congress party attempts to maintain a unified front ahead of political challenges in the region. While the opposition has declared its intent to use these claims as political leverage, the Mahila Congress has maintained that the expulsion was essential to preserve the party’s public image.
