Chandigarh, March 26: The Haryana Directorate General of Secondary Education has issued a directive requiring all schools and educational offices to submit comprehensive records of their financial transactions. This mandate encompasses the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Gurugram, alongside district education and elementary education officers, who must now provide 10-point details regarding bank accounts and fixed deposits.

Authorities stated that the requested information must include bank names, branch locations, current balances, interest rates, and maturity dates. The measure follows the discovery of a multi-crore fraud involving local branches of two private banks, where public funds were reportedly diverted into fraudulent accounts using forged documentation.

A government official affirmed that the initiative is a preventive exercise designed to identify and secure funds while ensuring there is no mismanagement. He declared that school managements must check their authenticity in keeping with the government’s recent instructions. Furthermore, the Finance Department has introduced revised guidelines stipulating that administrative secretaries may only approve new accounts for government schemes in nationalized banks. Any proposal to utilize private sector banks now requires a detailed justification and prior approval from the Finance Department.
