Chandigarh, March 12: The High-Powered Purchase Committee (HPPC), chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, approved contracts totaling ₹658 crore on Wednesday. Following negotiations with various suppliers, the state government reported a savings of over ₹68 crore for the public exchequer across projects spanning the public health, agriculture, and power sectors.
“Special attention should be given to the quality of development works,” the Chief Minister stated, while directing officials to establish regular monitoring protocols. He maintained that any negligence or delay in the execution of these projects would lead to strict disciplinary action against the responsible officers.
The approved agenda includes significant power sector upgrades, such as the installation of 400 KV substations in Mahendragarh, Faridabad, and Hisar at an estimated cost of ₹157 crore. Additionally, the panel cleared the procurement of power transformers for DHBVNL and approved automated coal supply systems for the Yamunanagar and Panipat thermal plants.
In the infrastructure sector, the committee cleared the way for a ₹55 crore pipeline project in Gurugram, connecting the Basai water works to Sector 25. The meeting, attended by ministers Vipul Goel, Shyam Singh Rana, and Ranbir Gangwa, also finalized the tender for a new judicial complex in Bawal and water drainage projects for the Kalanwali STP.
