Shimla, April 6: The Meteorological Department of Himachal Pradesh has issued a yellow alert for heat wave conditions in isolated pockets of Kangra, Kullu, Solan and Mandi districts on April 6, 7 and 9, as temperatures continue to rise across the state.

“Residents in the affected districts should take necessary precautions, especially during peak afternoon hours,” said a spokesperson of the MeT department. The advisory comes amid mostly dry conditions prevailing over the past 24 hours and no significant change in maximum and minimum temperatures.

While lower and middle hills are bracing for the heat, higher reaches may experience snowfall due to a fresh Western Disturbance expected to impact the western Himalayan region from April 8. Rainfall is also likely in the mid and lower hills beginning April 9.

In terms of temperature, Una recorded the highest at 35.8°C, followed by Sundernagar (33.7°C), Bilaspur (33.1°C), and Kangra (32.8°C). Shimla and Manali remained relatively cooler at 24.4°C. Kukumseri village in Lahaul and Spiti was the coldest spot at 0.7°C.
