Heavy Rain Likely in Himachal Till June 29

SHIMLA, 24 June — The Himachal Pradesh Meteorological Department has forecast continued heavy rainfall across the state till June 29, issuing orange and yellow alerts for multiple districts amid warnings of isolated spells of very heavy downpours.

An orange warning has been declared for Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, and Sirmaur on June 25 and 26, where heavy to very heavy rain is expected. In addition, a yellow alert has been issued for districts including Shimla, Solan, and Mandi for the entire period from June 24 to 29, signalling likely heavy rainfall at isolated locations.

The department also predicted light to moderate rainfall at many places, with intermittent heavy showers through the week. “The rainfall activity is expected to intensify midweek, with a significant drop in temperatures by 2°C to 4°C over the next three to four days,” an official statement said.

Over the past 24 hours, heavy rain was reported in isolated parts of the state, along with light to moderate showers in several other areas. However, no major changes were observed in minimum and maximum temperatures, which remained within seasonal norms.

The minimum temperatures ranged between 13°C and 27°C, while maximum temperatures hovered between 21°C and 36°C across various parts of the state.

  • Solan: 30.6°C
  • Mandi: 33.8°C
  • Kangra: 34.8°C
  • Chamba: 32.1°C
  • Bilaspur: 34.2°C
  • Hamirpur: 35.2°C
  • Kalpa: 26.9°C
  • Kufri: 20.5°C
  • Nahan: 28.0°C

The meteorological department has advised residents and tourists to remain cautious, especially in areas prone to landslides, flash floods, and road blockages, and to follow local advisories issued during the forecast period.
