Shimla, June 18: The Himachal Pradesh Meteorological Department has issued an orange weather warning for Shimla and Mandi districts on June 21 and 22, forecasting heavy rainfall that could trigger landslides, mudslides, and waterlogging in vulnerable areas.
A yellow alert has also been sounded for Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmour on June 18 and 19, and for most districts — excluding Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti — on June 20 and 21, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
Officials said light to moderate rainfall is likely across parts of the state till June 19, with isolated spells of heavy rain between June 20 and 22. Maximum temperatures may drop by 4°C to 6°C in the next 24 hours, before rising slightly. Minimum temperatures are also expected to fall by 2°C to 3°C over the next three days.
Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 21.8°C on Tuesday. Tourist hotspots like Dharamsala, Manali, Dalhousie, and Kasauli reported 27.1°C, 18.6°C, 19.8°C, and 21°C respectively.
