ANANDPUR SAHIB, 25 August — On the occasion of the first Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced the construction of a heritage street linking Gurdwara Sahib to Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib, the sacred site where Guru Gobind Singh Ji founded the Khalsa Panth.
Extending greetings to Sikhs across the world, Minister Bains said the project aims to create a serene and spiritually uplifting environment along the holy route.
“The objective of the Heritage Street project is to adorn this road with beautiful marble carvings, plant flowers and greenery, and provide a peaceful atmosphere for devotees,” he said.
“Enchanting lighting arrangements will further enhance the spiritual experience of the community visiting the Guru Ghar.”
Under the first phase, the state government will spend Rs 25 crore to convert the route into a pedestrian-friendly zone, free from vehicular traffic, the minister added.
“Pilgrims will now be able to travel this sacred path with peace and devotion,” Bains noted.
The project also includes redesigning the steps leading up to Takht Sahib with marble and elegant designs to enrich the spiritual ambiance.
“This will add a new dimension of beauty and tranquility to the holy site,” the minister said.
Officials said work will focus on both aesthetics and convenience, ensuring that the heritage street provides a visually striking and contemplative space for visitors.
