New Delhi/Shimla, August 11: The Himachal Pradesh government informed the Supreme Court that two senior Kullu district officials have been transferred from their posts following allegations regarding illegal rave parties in the region. State Advocate General Anup Rattan told a bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi, and Justice V Mohana that the administration carried out the reassignment of Deputy Commissioner Anurag Chander Sharma and Superintendent of Police Madan Lal as directed by judicial orders. The Himachal Pradesh High Court had earlier expressed grave concern over alleged ties between district authorities and event organizers, ordering an immediate administrative shuffle alongside a Special Investigation Team probe into the matter.
The apex court had previously stayed the High Court’s directive requiring the registration of an FIR and the formation of a DIG-led investigation team against the two senior officers. However, the bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant maintained that the transfer orders issued by the High Court would remain in effect to ensure an impartial environment. State officials affirmed that three key functionaries, including the local Sub-Divisional Magistrate, have been reassigned to other districts, demonstrating the state’s adherence to judicial directives while legal proceedings continue.
