SRINAGAR, Nov 14 — Security forces blew up the house of Delhi car blast accused Dr Umar Mohammad in a pre-dawn operation in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday, officials said.
The explosion was carried out around 2:30 a.m. in Koil village using an Improvised Explosive Device. “The structure was blown up as part of the ongoing investigation linked to the Delhi blast,” an official said.
Dr Umar has been identified as the prime accused in Monday’s car bombing near the Red Fort in Delhi, an attack that killed nine people and left 20 others injured. Investigators say his movements and forensic evidence place him at the centre of the plot.
A day earlier, DNA profiling confirmed his identity. “Umar’s DNA matched 100 percent with samples taken from his mother and brother, who were detained for verification,” a senior officer said, adding that the findings conclusively tie him to the blast vehicle.
The Red Fort explosion, one of the most serious security breaches in recent years, has triggered a multi-agency investigation extending across several states.
