How a Government School Teacher Became Punjab’s Symbol of Educational Reform

Chandigarh, November 2, 2025: When government school teacher Simran Kaur uploaded her classroom videos online, she didn’t expect them to go viral. But today, thousands of parents across Punjab are sharing her posts — and asking one question: why send children to private schools when government schools are doing this well?

Simran, a teacher in a Punjab government school, is changing the perception of public education. Her classroom is a space where children learn Punjabi, the Gurus’ teachings, and Punjab’s cultural values, along with their syllabus. “I teach them not just from the book,” she says, “I teach them about who they are.”

Her interactive teaching style — where students recite historical facts, speak Punjabi fluently, and answer questions confidently — has made her a local inspiration. “Watching her videos fills us with pride,” says a parent from Moga. “Our children are learning about their roots.”

Officials credit the transformation to the Mann government’s education reforms, which include teacher training, improved infrastructure, and technology-driven classrooms. “Teachers now feel supported,” says Simran. “Earlier we felt invisible, but now our work is being recognised.”

Her approach has also inspired fellow educators across Punjab. “She’s not just teaching — she’s mentoring a generation of teachers,” says another government teacher from Ludhiana.

With better facilities, empowered teachers, and cultural learning at the centre, government schools in Punjab are redefining education. As Simran puts it, “Our children’s future is safe right here — in our own schools.”
