Ludhiana, 17 Feb: Ludhiana police on Monday arrested businessman and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Anokh Mittal, 35, along with his friend Pratiksha, 24, for allegedly orchestrating the murder of his wife, Lipsy Mittal.

Four contract killers hired for the crime were also arrested—Amritpal Singh alias Balli (26), Gurdeep Singh alias Manni (25), Sonu Singh (24), all from Nandpur, and Sagardeep Singh alias Teji (30) of Dhandari Kalan. Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, identified as a key attacker, remains at large.

Lipsy was killed Saturday night on the Dehlon bypass as she and Anokh were returning home from a party in Pohir village on the Ludhiana-Malerkotla highway. Armed with sharp weapons, the assailants attacked her when the couple stopped at a deserted stretch.

Anokh initially claimed unidentified miscreants attacked them and stole their car, mobile phones, and jewelry. However, police found he had orchestrated the murder.

“He conspired with his woman friend and hired five contract killers for ₹2.5 lakh, paying ₹50,000 in advance,” officials said. The remaining amount was to be paid after the murder.
