Khanna, March 6 — Khanna police and municipal council officials demolished six illegally built structures in the town’s Meat Market on Thursday, targeting properties financed through drug money. The buildings, belonging to six drug peddlers, had encroached on municipal land, officials said.
Khanna SSP Jyoti Yadav, who led the operation, stated that the demolition proceeded smoothly with adequate police deployment to prevent disturbances. “These structures were illegally built using drug proceeds. The municipal council had reported the encroachments before action was taken,” she said.
Among those linked to the properties are brothers Aslam and Sunil Baba, both facing five cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Sunil Baba is in judicial custody, while Aslam remains absconding. The other four—Shindi, Mohendro, Pappu, and Gulshan—are wanted in drug and illegal liquor cases.
A day earlier, Khanna police seized three properties owned by drug traffickers in Payal subdivision. SSP Yadav reiterated the state government’s commitment to cracking down on the drug trade and urged public support in the fight against narcotics.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, police bulldozed the property of a drug smuggler in Bharari village, Amritsar district, furthering the ongoing crackdown.
