New Delhi — India and China have agreed to utilize established diplomatic and military channels to resolve remaining border frictions along the Line of Actual Control, signaling ongoing efforts to manage frontier ties through structured negotiations.
The consensus was reached during the latest session of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs hosted in New Delhi. Representatives from both nations conducted frank deliberations on frontier management, boundary delimitation, and institutional mechanisms designed to avert miscommunications along the border.
The Ministry of External Affairs affirmed that maintaining quiet and peace across border zones remains an essential prerequisite for sustaining wider bilateral progress. During the talks, Indian officials also pressed for an early meeting regarding trans-border rivers to facilitate the timely exchange of hydrological data concerning upstream projects.
“Both sides agreed to continue using existing diplomatic and military channels, including the WMCC framework and local commander-level meetings, to address unresolved issues,” the ministry declared in an official press release.
Led by Joint Secretary Sujit Ghosh from India and Director General Hou Yanqi from China, the meeting marks part of a continuous effort to stabilize relations following the severe standoff in 2020. While multiple rounds of talks have enabled disengagement at various friction points, both governments remain committed to managing lingering differences through peaceful discourse.
