NEW DELHI, May 8 — India on Thursday said it thwarted Pakistan’s attempts to target military installations across Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Gujarat late last night and early this morning, and carried out retaliatory strikes on Pakistani air defence systems.
According to the government, Indian military installations in key locations including Srinagar, Pathankot, Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Chandigarh were among the intended targets of Pakistani forces.
“In response, Indian forces struck and neutralised Pakistani Air Defence Radars and systems at multiple locations, including Lahore,” the government said.
The Defence Ministry added that Pakistan’s attempts to escalate tensions along the northern and western borders were met with a swift and calibrated response, with air defence units effectively intercepting the threat.
