CHARKHI DADRI, May 26 — Sahil Kumar, a 22-year-old student from Dohka village in Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri district, has been missing in Canada for the past eight days, prompting pleas from his family for government intervention.

Kumar had travelled to Canada on a study visa and was enrolled at Humber College. According to his uncle, Akshay Kumar, Sahil was staying with another youth from the same village. “He left for his college on May 17 and hasn’t been seen since,” Akshay said.

“The co-villager who lives with him informed us and has already lodged a missing person report with the Hamilton police.”

Hamilton Police confirmed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that Kumar was last seen at Toronto’s Union Station on May 17. “Police are concerned since he has been in contact with family or friends,” the statement read, urging the public to call 905-540-8549 with any information.

Kumar’s father, Harish Kumar, a retired Indian Army personnel, said the family had spent ₹40 lakh to send their son abroad for a better future.

“Now we are living in fear, not knowing where he is or what’s happened,” he said. “We request the Indian government to help locate him.”

As the search continues in Canada, Sahil’s family and neighbors back home remain on edge, hoping for answers and safe return.
