CHANDIGARH, Jan. 1 — A fog-related diversion of an IndiGo flight from Amritsar to Delhi turned into a lighthearted moment on board after an air hostess’s Punjabi banter drew laughter and applause from passengers, a video of which has now gone viral on social media.
The flight was diverted due to dense fog, prompting an announcement by the cabin crew that quickly shifted from routine to humorous. In the video, the air hostess is heard joking with passengers in Punjabi and Hindi, saying, “Ye lo, yahan kulche khani si, tussi chole bhature ke liye baithe ho?” — a remark that immediately set off laughter inside the aircraft.
She then added, “Mere ko ghar jana hai,” drawing louder cheers as passengers reacted to her candid, playful tone.
The video, shared on Instagram by user @food_mehkma, has garnered over 5.5 million views so far. During the exchange, a passenger asked if the crew member was from Amritsar. When she replied in the affirmative and mentioned her locality, children on board excitedly chimed in, saying, “Assi bhi,” prompting applause across the cabin.
The caption accompanying the post read, “Fun time with IndiGo. The IndiGo staff and attendants were extremely kind and cooperative. They calmly handled the situation.”
Social media users praised the air hostess for her composure and warmth during the delay. “This is the difference,” one user commented. “When flights are delayed due to fog or serious conditions, we should understand the situation instead of shouting at the crew.”
