New Delhi, Oct 4: In a major network expansion, IndiGo will begin its first long-haul service from Delhi to Manchester in the United Kingdom starting November 15, marking a significant milestone for India’s largest airline. The route will operate four times a week using leased Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
Announcing the development on Friday, the airline said the launch of the Manchester service represents the beginning of its long-haul operations from the national capital. “With this expansion, IndiGo will connect Delhi to 21 international and 74 domestic destinations, with over 1,700 weekly departures,” the airline said in a statement, adding that the move reinforces Delhi airport’s position as one of its key hubs and strengthens India’s role as a global aviation hub.
In addition to the UK route, IndiGo will also expand its international footprint in Southeast Asia. Daily flights to Denpasar (Bali, Indonesia) will commence from October 24, followed by four weekly flights to Krabi (Thailand) starting October 26. Both routes will be operated with Airbus A320 family aircraft, with the Denpasar service including a refuelling stop at Bhubaneswar. The airline will also increase frequencies on the Delhi–Bangkok route to double daily from October 26.
IndiGo’s domestic network will see a simultaneous boost with additional daily non-stop flights from Delhi to Rajkot, Vadodara, Patna, Goa, Shirdi, Nagpur, Nashik, Jabalpur, and Raipur beginning October 26. The carrier will also introduce a direct connection between Delhi and Purnea in Bihar, further strengthening its presence in Tier-2 cities.
By integrating new international and domestic destinations, IndiGo aims to enhance connectivity and provide passengers with seamless travel options across key global and regional routes.
