Mohali, 0ct 12: Mohali is set to get a major IT boost as Infosys Limited will establish a 30-acre campus in the city’s IT City, with an estimated investment of ₹300 crore, officials said on Saturday. The project is expected to generate more than 2,500 jobs in software development, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and related technology fields.

State Industry Minister Sanjeev Arora said the initiative aligns with the government’s goal of attracting investment and generating employment in emerging sectors. “Our aim is to create opportunities for skilled youth and make Punjab a preferred destination for technology companies,” he said.

The campus will be developed in two phases. The first phase will construct 3 lakh square feet of office space, providing immediate employment opportunities, while the second phase will add 4.8 lakh square feet, bringing the total workforce to around 2,500-2,700. Infosys has said that local graduates will be given priority, with skill development programs run in collaboration with colleges and universities in Punjab.

“This campus will provide a platform for youth in Punjab to work in advanced technology sectors close to home,” said a senior official from the Punjab Industry Department.

Officials said that the project will also boost Mohali’s local economy. “The presence of a large IT campus is expected to increase demand for housing, hospitality, retail, and other services, which will have a multiplier effect on the local economy,” they noted.

Infrastructure development around the area is already underway. Punjab State Industrial and Export Corporation (PSIEC) and Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) are constructing new roads, upgrading electricity substations, and improving civic facilities to support the campus and surrounding areas.

The campus is scheduled for a formal launch on November 5, 2025, coinciding with Gurpurab, and is expected to be completed in phases. Infosys already operates in Chandigarh, but the new Mohali facility will be larger and equipped with modern amenities, positioning the city as a potential competitor to Delhi and Noida in the IT sector.
