JALANDHAR, 13 October, 2014: On Dussehra night, 35 people were arrested at PPR Mall and the Model Town market over public drinking and traffic violations by Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma.

The operation, conducted between 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., involved thorough inspections of shops and vehicles to ensure compliance with the law, he said.

“Law violations are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” said Sharma, warning that strict action would be taken against those who break the law.

The crackdown resulted in 35 arrests, the issuance of 14 traffic challans, three vehicles being impounded, and one preventive action taken under Sections 126/169 of the BNS, he said.

Sharma stated that similar operations will continue in the future, stressing that no one, regardless of their position, will be allowed to breach public safety regulations.

“The Commissionerate Police is dedicated to enforcing the law strictly, especially during festive seasons,” he added.
