Kabul, 10 October 2025 – Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi on Friday assured India that Afghan territory will not be used for any activities detrimental to New Delhi’s interests. The announcement came after extensive talks with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
Muttaqi said Afghanistan will soon send its diplomats to India as part of a gradual effort to strengthen bilateral relations. Currently, Afghan missions in India operate with officials primarily appointed during the previous Ashraf Ghani government.
While India has not formally recognized the Taliban administration, it has consistently advocated for the formation of a genuinely inclusive government in Kabul. Muttaqi’s statement signals a step-by-step approach to improving ties between the two neighbors.
“The Afghan soil will not be allowed for any activity that could harm India’s interests,” Muttaqi told reporters, emphasizing Kabul’s commitment to constructive engagement with New Delhi.
Officials from both countries described the talks as productive, noting that diplomatic channels will continue to expand as mutual understanding deepens.
