Srinagar, Oct 22: Community leaders and Sikh organizations in Kashmir gathered on Wednesday at Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi in Rainawari to pay solemn tributes to slain Punjab anti-drug activist Parminder Singh Jhota, demanding comprehensive accountability in the ongoing investigation.

Organized by the All India Sikh Students Federation, Sikh Naujawan Kashmir, and local congregation members, the special memorial service featured prayers for the departed soul. Speakers at the gathering stated that the activist’s relentless campaign against narcotics served as a vital shield for the younger generation, while asserting that his legacy would continue to inspire future reform movements.

Addressing the assembly, All India Sikh Students Federation Jammu and Kashmir president Manjit Singh expressed unwavering solidarity with the grieving family and maintained that the state administration must seriously address the demands put forward by the Mansa Morcha. Officials further declared that the collective resolve of the community remained firmly aligned with the pursuit of complete transparency.

Echoing these sentiments, youth representative Angad Singh Khalsa declared that the activist had established a fearless voice against deep-seated social evils before his tragic death during a social media livestream. Following persistent appeals from the family, state authorities previously transferred the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation, a decision local leaders maintained should pave the way for uncovering the full scope of the conspiracy.
