NEW DELHI, OCT 23: AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal directed sharp criticism at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, challenging the central leadership to demonstrate concrete results in BJP-governed states like Bihar, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Goa before lecturing Punjab on narcotics control. Referring to media reports highlighting the rise of illegal drug operations despite prohibition policies, Kejriwal questioned why no clear deadlines have been established to eliminate drugs in those jurisdictions.
Reinforcing the party’s stance, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh pointed to massive drug seizures, including a major ₹20,000-crore bust at Gujarat’s Mundra port, to question federal enforcement efficacy. Singh argued that past political alliances bear the responsibility for introducing drug networks into Punjab. Simultaneously, AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj questioned how foreign narcotics continue to enter national borders, which fall directly under the jurisdiction of the Home Ministry.
In defense of its governance record, the Aam Aadmi Party detailed its recent anti-narcotics achievements in Punjab under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Party representatives confirmed that state law enforcement has made over 1.27 lakh arrests, confiscated upwards of 7,260 kilograms of heroin, and dismantled 1,288 criminal syndicates since taking office in 2022.
