Chandigarh, March 4 — AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will arrive in Hoshiarpur on Tuesday for a 10-day Vipassana meditation session, party sources said.
Kejriwal had previously attended a similar course at the Dhamma Dhaja Vipassana Centre in December 2023. His latest retreat comes amid ongoing political developments in Punjab.
Maur Mandi Protest Over Poor Sanitation
Residents and traders in Maur Mandi shut down businesses on Monday to protest poor sewerage conditions in the area. Protesters, including Congress leaders, members of the arhtiya association, farmer unions, and the pesticide union, gathered at key locations, demanding immediate action from authorities.
“The situation has become unbearable. We have raised the issue multiple times, but nothing has changed,” a protester said.
Fazilka Wetlands to Get Development Push
Eight of Fazilka’s 14 wetlands are set for development after local panchayats gave their consent, officials said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Mandeep Kaur said the wetlands included Raipura, Khubban, Narayanpura, Churi Wala Dhanna, Saidan Wali, Danewala Satkosi, Rajpura, and Jamalgarh.
“The development will focus on conservation and improving local livelihoods,” she mentioned.
