New Delhi, November 8, 2024: The Supreme Court held a hearing on Thursday regarding the rape and murder of a female trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9.
The court has instructed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to submit an updated status report within four weeks. Additionally, the Supreme Court declined the request to transfer the case to another state.
In relation to a petition concerning the safety of doctors, a lawyer informed the court that the central government has submitted the report of the National Task Force (NTF). The court has directed that copies of the NTF report be sent to all involved lawyers, states, and union territories.
The court has asked all petitioners and the chief secretaries of states to provide their suggestions on the matter within three weeks. The hearing of the case will continue daily from November 11.
