Landran, Mohali, 14 January 2025: A labourer died and three others sustained injuries after the lintel of an under-construction two-storey showroom collapsed at TDI City, Sector 118, Mohali, on Monday afternoon. This marks the second building collapse in the area within a month.
The victim, identified as Jaswinder Singh (41) of Chuhar Majra near Landran, was among six workers trapped under the rubble. Local residents raised the alarm and managed to rescue the workers, who were rushed to the Phase-6 Civil Hospital. Among the injured, Uday Paswan (42), Karan Kumar (30), and Kuldeep Paswan (25), all Aerocity residents, received treatment. One of them remains in critical condition.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. when the lintel of the second floor was being laid. The structure’s first floor collapsed, trapping workers beneath. Some workers managed to escape by jumping off the building, sustaining only minor injuries.
The supervisor was reportedly absent at the time of the collapse. Local residents and rescue teams worked quickly to free the trapped workers from the debris.
This tragedy comes weeks after the December 21 collapse of a three-storey gym-cum-PG building in Sohana, which killed two youths.
