Nangal, September 2: A land inheritance matter has emerged in the Majri area of Nangal after revenue records listed a local resident as deceased, leading to the transfer and subsequent sale of ancestral agricultural property. Prakash Chand, who resides in Majowal, learned of the documentation changes affecting his family property in Majri village after initiating routine inquiries into the estate records. The property transfer was registered on December 4, 2025, based on inheritance-related entries that recorded another individual bearing the same name as deceased.
Representing the family, advocate Navdeep Hira submitted a formal petition to administrative authorities challenging the validity of the property mutation. The petition contends that identity and inheritance verification procedures require thorough review, asserting that the revenue entries impacted the family’s legitimate inheritance rights. Recognizing the sensitivity of land record management, local authorities promptly initiated administrative proceedings to evaluate the process through which the documentation updates were approved.
SDM Nangal Sachin Pathak affirmed that administrative notices have been served to official personnel associated with the filing period, including former tehsildar Jasbir Singh, former patwari Sham Avtar, and the local nambardar. Pathak stated that a comprehensive inquiry is currently underway to assess the verification steps taken prior to the entry updates. The administration maintained that official procedures will be fully reviewed to ensure transparent governance and resolve discrepancies in land management.
This development follows broader administrative efforts to locate and digitize historical records across the subdivision. Officials have already recovered revenue files for ten out of fourteen local villages previously being audited. Authorities maintained their commitment to maintaining public trust while ensuring that all land-related documentation undergoes rigorous verification before any property entries are authorized.
