Chandigarh, Oct 26: Haryana Police’s Special Task Force (STF) has arrested gangster Lakhwinder Singh, also known as Lakha, a close aide of Lawrence Bishnoi, after his deportation from the United States, officials said on Saturday.

Lakha, a resident of Titram village in Kaithal district, had been operating from the US since 2022 under the directions of Anmol Bishnoi, police mentioned. He is accused of involvement in several cases of extortion and firing connected to organised crime networks in Haryana and Punjab.

According to police, at least a dozen cases were registered against him across Sonepat, Rohtak, Yamunanagar, Kaithal and Ambala districts in 2023 for issuing threats and carrying out extortion-related activities.

Officials noted that the STF had issued a Look Out Circular in 2023, followed by a Red Corner Notice in 2024, to track the fugitive. “After extensive coordination with national and international agencies for nearly a year, the Ambala unit of the STF succeeded in facilitating his deportation from the US and arrested him upon arrival, following all due legal formalities,” an officer said.

The arrest, officials added, marks a significant step in the STF’s ongoing crackdown on the Bishnoi gang network and its overseas operatives.
