LG Manoj Sinha Greets People on Gandhi Jayanti

Calls for Commitment to Truth, Non-Violence and Swachhata

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 2: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, on Thursday extended his warm greetings to the people of Jammu Kashmir on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, which will be observed across the country on October 2.

In his message, the Lieutenant Governor paid rich tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 157th birth anniversary, recalling the enduring relevance of the Father of the Nation’s ideals of truth, non-violence, self-reliance, Swadeshi, cleanliness and Sarvodaya.

“On the occasion of the 157th birth anniversary of our Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, I extend my heartiest greetings to the people of Jammu Kashmir,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

He observed that Mahatma Gandhi’s life and philosophy demonstrated to the world that truth and non-violence are eternal paths to peace, adding that his timeless ideals continue to inspire generations.

“Pujya Bapu showed the world that truth, non-violence and self-reliance are eternal paths to peace. His timeless ideals of Satya, Ahimsa, Swadeshi, Swachhata and Sarvodaya continue to guide humanity and inspire us to dedicate ourselves to the country’s continuous growth and prosperity,” LG Sinha said.

The Lieutenant Governor called upon the people to mark the occasion by reaffirming their commitment to the values and principles championed by Mahatma Gandhi.

“On this sacred occasion, let us pay heartfelt tribute to Pujya Bapu by pledging to live by his noble principles,” he said.

LG Sinha further urged collective efforts towards building a peaceful, prosperous and developed Jammu Kashmir, while contributing to the larger national vision of a developed India.

“Together, let us build a peaceful and prosperous Jammu Kashmir and developed India,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

Gandhi Jayanti is observed every year on October 2 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and is marked by programmes and activities highlighting his message of peace, non-violence, cleanliness and social harmony.
