Mohali, March 11: A resident of Manikpur village in Mohali has successfully undergone a critical heart surgery without any financial burden, thanks to the timely intervention of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana. The initiative, spearheaded by the Punjab Government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, ensured that the patient received an emergency stent placement that would have otherwise cost the family approximately Rs 4 lakh.
Sukhwinder Kaur was admitted to a private facility after experiencing acute chest pain complicated by diabetes. Doctors determined that an immediate procedure was necessary to save her life. The family stated that arranging such a significant amount of money at short notice would have been extremely difficult. They affirmed that the scheme allowed them to prioritize her health over financial concerns, noting that she was discharged in stable condition after a week of professional supervision.
Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh maintained that the core mission of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana is to prevent any delay in critical medical care due to a lack of funds. He asserted that the government’s recent release of Rs 500 crore to insurers ensures that cashless services remain seamless for all eligible residents. The Minister declared that the administration is committed to making high-end healthcare, including cardiac and cancer care, a guarantee rather than an exception for the people of the state.
