Ludhaina, March 22: A government medical officer from Ludhiana has gained local prominence after appearing in the Bollywood feature “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” alongside actor Ranveer Singh. Dr. Sunny Ashok, who is stationed at a health facility in Kalakh village, was originally brought onto the film set to provide emergency medical assistance before being invited to participate in a scene filmed at Shahnewal Airport.
The opportunity arose following an incident on July 8, 2025, when actor Arjun Rampal sustained a head injury during a chase sequence at a railway track near Ludhiana. Dr. Ashok was summoned to evaluate the actor’s condition and affirmed that the injury was not as severe as initially feared.
“There was panic as it seemed Arjun would need scans and hospitalization,” Dr. Ashok stated while recalling the tension on set. He noted that after checking the actor’s reflexes, the crew expressed relief that the production could continue.
The physician’s professional conduct led to a follow-up invitation to the set on July 11. During a conversation at Shahnewal Airport, Ranveer Singh suggested that Dr. Ashok should appear in the film rather than simply taking a photograph. Director Aditya Dhar, known for “Uri,” subsequently cast the doctor as a medical professional treating an injured character deplaning at the airport.
Dr. Ashok maintained that the director was pleased with the authenticity of the performance. Dhar reportedly declared that the doctor behaved exactly as a professional would in a real-world medical emergency, avoiding the common mistake of looking directly into the camera.
The cameo has turned the Pakhowal resident into a local celebrity, with news of his appearance spreading through community messaging groups. Dr. Ashok asserted that the film crew and lead actors were exceptionally friendly and approachable throughout the Punjab shooting schedule.
