Mumbai, Sept. 6 — Mahindra & Mahindra has announced early implementation of benefits under the revised Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, allowing customers to avail discounts on select vehicles starting today, more than two weeks ahead of the official September 22 rollout.

In a social media post on X, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra said, “Action. Not just promises. Thank you, Team @Mahindra_Auto,” alongside an image declaring, “Everyone said 22nd Sept, we said NOW. AVAIL GST BENEFITS STARTING 6th SEPT. GET UPTO RS 1.56 LAKH.”

The company highlighted that internal combustion engine (ICE) models would see the most substantial savings. For example, the XUV3XO (Diesel) now offers up to Rs 1.56 lakh in benefits as the GST rate drops from 31 per cent to 18 per cent. Other popular models, including the XUV3XO (Petrol) and Thar 2WD (Diesel), provide savings of up to Rs 1.40 lakh and Rs 1.35 lakh, respectively. Vehicles such as the Bolero/Neo and Scorpio Classic see reductions of Rs 1.27 lakh and Rs 1.01 lakh.

Larger SUVs like the Scorpio-N, Thar Roxx, and XUV700, previously taxed at 48 per cent, now fall under a 40 per cent slab, offering benefits of up to Rs 1.45 lakh, Rs 1.33 lakh, and Rs 1.43 lakh, respectively.

Praising the government’s reforms, Mahindra also noted the continued 5 per cent GST on electric vehicles (EVs), calling it a crucial step for promoting clean mobility in India. The changes to indirect taxes cover a wide range of vehicles: petrol and petrol hybrid cars, LPG and CNG variants under 1200 cc and 4,000 mm, and diesel/diesel hybrid cars up to 1,500 cc and 4,000 mm will now be taxed at 18 per cent instead of 28 per cent. Three-wheelers, motorcycles up to 350 cc, and goods transport vehicles also benefit from the lower GST rate.

Market intelligence firm Crisil highlighted that the reduced tax rate is likely to boost domestic sales, improve vehicle affordability, and increase demand, benefitting sellers. Entry-level hatchbacks such as Wagon R, premium hatchbacks like Swift, compact sedans including Swift Dzire, and sub-compact SUVs like Punch could see prices drop by nearly 8.5 per cent. Mid-sized SUVs and larger MPVs, including Creta, Ertiga, XUV700, and Innova, may become cheaper by 3.5–6.7 per cent.

Two-wheelers are also set to become more affordable, with most ICE bikes seeing price reductions of nearly 7.8 per cent, while premium motorcycles with engines above 350 cc could rise by 6.9 per cent.

The early rollout by Mahindra reflects the company’s proactive approach to passing on the benefits of GST 2.0 to customers, while supporting broader efforts to make vehicles more accessible and clean mobility more attractive.
