BERLIN/NEW DELHI, June 5: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra married senior advocate and former Biju Janata Dal MP Pinaki Misra in a low-key private ceremony on May 30, away from media glare.

A photo of the couple, smiling and walking hand-in-hand on a street in Germany, surfaced online recently. Moitra, 50, was seen in a gold and pink sari, while Misra appeared relaxed in casual attire.

Misra, a three-time MP from Puri, has two children from a previous marriage. This is Moitra’s second marriage; she was earlier married to Danish financier Lars Brorson. She was also linked in a previous high-profile relationship with lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai.

While neither has issued a formal statement, the image circulating on social media suggests a joyous moment shared away from the public eye.

Moitra’s political career saw turbulence recently, with her first term in Parliament cut short amid a controversy involving businessman Gautam Adani. She remains known for her strong speeches and vocal criticism of government policy.

The quiet ceremony marks a personal milestone for both, as they continue to remain influential figures in law and politics.

Pinaki Misra, Mahua Moitra’s newlywed husband, brings with him decades of experience in both politics and law. Born in 1959, Misra entered the political arena with a strong start, defeating a sitting Union Minister in 1996 to win his first Lok Sabha seat. He went on to represent Puri, Odisha multiple times as a Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP.

Alongside his political career, Misra built a formidable legal reputation. A Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India, he has argued in several high-profile cases, earning recognition for his legal acumen.

During his time in Parliament, Misra was known for his calm, reasoned demeanor. He served on key committees, including the Standing Committee on Finance and the Business Advisory Committee, contributing to critical legislative deliberations.

His composed, measured style in both courtrooms and parliamentary debates has often stood in contrast to Moitra’s combative and impassioned political persona, adding an intriguing dimension to their public pairing.
