New Delhi, April 12: Punjab Police on Saturday arrested Saidul Ameen, the main accused in the grenade attack at BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia’s residence in Jalandhar, with help from central agencies and Delhi Police. Ameen, a resident of Amroha in Uttar Pradesh, was nabbed in Delhi.

The attack took place on the intervening night of April 7-8. Police had earlier arrested Satish Kumar Lucky, the e-rickshaw driver from which the grenade was hurled, and his cousin Harry, who allegedly funded the act with Rs 3,500. Both were picked up hours after the incident on April 8.

Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said Ameen is the prime suspect and that the investigation is progressing rapidly. Authorities are now tracing potential handlers, financiers and any foreign links to the attack.

In a post on X, DGP Yadav said the conspiracy was orchestrated by Pakistan’s spy agency ISI in coordination with members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, with the intent to provoke communal unrest in Punjab. The e-rickshaw used in the attack has also been recovered.
