MALERKOTLA, May 11 – The Malerkotla district administration has intensified its crisis management strategy, launching a series of preventive measures to ensure swift and coordinated responses in the event of an emergency despite India – Pakistan ceasefire.

Deputy Commissioner Viraj S Tidkey said the administration has activated a special control room to assist residents and urged the public to follow safety protocols, including blackout procedures.

“We have put comprehensive arrangements in place to handle any adverse situations arising from the current conflict,” he said.

As part of its preparedness drive, the district is conducting mock drills and inter-agency coordination exercises involving key departments such as health, fire services, and civil administration.

These drills are aimed at improving the real-time readiness of government personnel in handling high-stress emergencies.

“We are training our officials on the lines of forces like the Rapid Action Force and CRPF to build capacity across all departments,” an official involved in the coordination process said.

Senior Superintendent of Police Gagan Ajit Singh underscored the importance of familiarising police personnel with wartime protocols.

“Police teams in all three subdivisions are already trained in crisis protocols, but we have organised additional workshops and mock drills to sharpen coordination with other agencies,” Singh said.

He added that SPs and DSPs are leading the initiative by conducting sessions for SHOs and beat officers to reinforce standard operational procedures for crisis management.

“Even though we undergo formal training, these on-ground exercises are vital for avoiding last-minute confusion and ensuring seamless execution during real emergencies,” Singh said.

In a move towards inclusive preparedness, the training also includes private security personnel to build a cohesive emergency response framework.

Department heads have also begun holding internal sessions to raise awareness among staff about preventive and rescue strategies, ensuring that the entire administrative machinery is tuned for a rapid and organised reaction should the need arise.
