Maharashtra, 29 Dec. 2024: A 32-year-old man in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife after she gave birth to their third daughter, police said on Saturday. The incident occurred on Thursday night in Gangakhed Naka, approximately 520 kilometers from Mumbai.
According to a complaint filed by the victim’s sister, the accused, Kundlik Uttam Kale, frequently taunted his wife, Maina, for bearing daughters and often quarreled with her over the matter.
“On Thursday night, following another argument, Kale poured petrol on Maina and set her on fire,” a police official from the Gangakhed police station said. “She ran out of the house screaming, and neighbors attempted to extinguish the flames. However, she suffered severe burns and died while being taken to the hospital.”
Kale has been taken into custody and faces murder charges, the official added. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
