Julana, Haryana 13 October 2024: A man has been arrested for allegedly issuing a death threat to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in a WhatsApp group.
According to reports, the incident occurred on October 8, the day the results of the Haryana assembly elections were announced.
The accused, identified as Ajmer from Deverar village in Jind district, posted the threatening message in a WhatsApp group named after Sombir Rathi, the husband of newly elected Julana MLA Vinesh Phogat.
According to Jind police, the message included a threat to kill the Chief Minister in a manner similar to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.
A police spokesperson stated, “We received a complaint about the threat, and an FIR has been registered under Section 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which addresses criminal intimidation.”
Superintendent of Police Sumit Kumar confirmed that the accused admitted to making the threats while under the influence of alcohol.
He directed the Julana police station to act quickly, leading to Ajmer’s arrest.
Following his arrest, Ajmer was presented in court and has been sent to judicial custody.
