Man Found Dead in Drain in Northeast Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 26: A man was found dead in a drain in the Khajuri Khas area of northeast Delhi on Friday morning, prompting a police investigation, officials said.

The body, believed to be that of a man around 35 years old, was spotted by locals, following which a police team rushed to the scene. A forensic unit was also called to examine the site and collect evidence.

“A forensic team inspected the spot to help establish the identity of the deceased and determine the possible cause of death,” a police officer said.

After completing initial formalities at the location, the body was transported to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital for a post-mortem examination to check for injuries or signs of foul play, police said.

A case has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and further investigation is underway.

“We are scanning nearby CCTV footage, verifying missing persons records and circulating photographs of the body to nearby police stations,” the officer said.

Police said the identity of the deceased has not yet been established.
