Ajnala, December 5 — A 32-year-old man was beaten to death by his father during a violent family dispute in Kiampur village on Thursday morning, police said. The accused, Harpal Singh, has been arrested.
According to the victim’s grandfather, Kashmir Singh, the confrontation began around 9 am when his grandson, Simarjang Singh, picked a quarrel with Harpal. “Simarjang dragged his father outside and started beating him with a stick,” he told police.
The fight escalated when Harpal allegedly grabbed a brick and struck Simarjang on the head several times. “He hit him four to five times. Simarjang died on the spot,” Kashmir Singh said. Both he and his wife, Davinder Kaur, witnessed the assault.
DSP Gurvinder Singh said the victim was Harpal’s only son. Police have also nominated Harpal’s wife, Sukhbir Kaur, and are examining her role. The investigation is underway.
